We are pleased to announce that the diocese has named Brianna Sypolt and Carissa Brubaker as recipients of The St. Timothy Award, the highest recognition from the National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministers. This award is conferred on a junior or senior high school youth who lives as a disciple of Christ, sets a positive example for other youth, witnesses to their faith by exhibiting Catholic morals and integrity, demonstrates Gospel values through service to others, and exhibits Christian leadership in parish, school, and/or community settings.
Carissa is an all Honors senior at The Tome School in North East, MD. In addition to cantoring at Mass, Carissa volunteers with multiple organizations in the tri-state area. She recently returned from Nicaragua on a Promise in Sight mission where she helped provide eye exams to adults and children. The mission changed her direction in life. She will be working with an eye doctor over the summer and attending college in Spring, 2018 majoring in pre-med.
Brianna has served as an altar server since the third grade, and now serves as a cantor at Mass. She is involved in band and choir at school, and participates in Women's Concert choir and has received All County and All State awards. She is also a member of parish youth group. She will attend Shepherd University in the fall and intends to major in music.
The diocese has also awarded Allison Clark as Volunteer of the Year in Youth Ministry for our parish. Mrs. Clark has volunteered in our Religious Education program for the past three years, coordinating our Wednesday classes and working with our catechists.
They, along with other recipients, will be honored at a banquet in Dover on May 10. Please join us in honoring and congratulating Mrs. Clark, Brianna and Carissa on their achievements and these awards!
