Altar Servers
Designated ministers of the sacred liturgy who serve at weekend Masses, wedding, and liturgical celebrations, per schedule.

Location:

Church/Sacristy

Objective:

To assist the priests in the rite of the liturgy

Duties/Responsibilities:

- to be faithful to assignments
- assist the priest in preparation of the altar, including lighting sanctuary candles, placement of the gifts, and ciboria, chalice, etc.
- lead the processional and recessional, oftentimes as cross-bearer, candle bearer, and other items during liturgical celebrations

Qualifications:

Boy or Girl at least in Third Grade and have made their First Communion

Training:

To be provided by the ministry leaders to the candidate group in pre-arranged sessions in addition to on-the-job training during Mass and at other liturgical celebrations.

Length of Commitment:

Altar servers are commissioned through their senior year of high school.
